IN THE NEWS

In the News was an enrichment group that met on Wednesday afternoons during the month of September. The group discussed the parts of the newspaper and different types of articles found in the paper. We completed several writing activities focusing on using voice to make our writing more interesting. The final activity was to choose stories related to our school and interview teachers and peers to create our very own Mini Marshall Messenger.

DRA GRANT - On behalf of the students and staff at Marshall, we would like to thank Mystique Casino for our 2011 Dubuque Racing Association (DRA) Grant award of $4,467.00.  Through this grant we were able to purchase Flip Video Cameras for use in the classrooms.  This project will help students become more capable of assessing their own learning.  Teachers will record students' learning in various content areas and then the students will work with teachers to assess their progress toward their goals.
